Sizing Chart

Road Bike Tires
Labeling- Road tires are labeled with a measurement that consists of two parts:
  1. This is the defacto diameter of your tire in millimeters*.
  2. Tire Width. This is the width of the tire in millimeters.
* *Rim sizes are not interchangeable. A 650c road rim will not fit a 26” mountain bike tire. Keep track of decimal vs fractional sizing. 26x1 (650x25c) and 26x1.0 are not the same rim size.
Width- Minimum width is limited by the width of the rim, a tire that is too small increases the risk of rim damage when striking an obstacle, or the tire not seating properly and being prone to flats.

Maximum tire size is limited by the amount of clearance for the tire within the frame, and the the width of the rim, a very wide tire mounted to a narrow rim will not be very stable and may cause unpredictable handling as the tire rolls over in turns.

A good guideline for maximum and minimum tire size is shown below.

The handmade 290 TPI Corespun casing in this clincher tire provides the supple feel and durability of Vittoria's legendary tubulars!

At 290 tpi and 230 grams, the Kevlar and polycotton tire is supple, yet offers 'the most razor-sharp, fast-rolling performance outside of tubular,' said one tester." "…ephemeral ride quality…"
