Sizing Chart

Mountain Bike Tires
Labeling- Mountain tires are labeled with a measurement that consists of two parts:
  1. This is the defacto diameter of your rim in Inches*.
  2. Tire Width. This is the width of the tire in inches.
* *Rim sizes are not interchangeable. A 26” mountain bike rim will not fit a 650c road tire. Keep track of decimal vs fractional sizing. 26x1.5 and 26x1 ½” are not the same rim size.
Tire Type- Standard Rims- use a conventional rim strip/innertube/tire combination. UST TUBELESS Rims- typically have a smooth inner surface or a special rim strip to ensure an airtight seal, they do not use an inner tube, and require a UST compatible tire to work correctly without tubes. UST rims can be used with normal tires and inner tubes.
Width- Minimum width is limited by the width of the rim, a tire that is too small increases the risk of rim damage when striking an obstical, or the tire not seating properly and being prone to flats.

Maximum tire size is limited by the amount of clearance for the tire within the frame, and the the width of the rim, a very wide tire mounted to a narrow rim will not be very stable and may cause unpredictable handling as the tire rolls over in turns.

A good guideline for maximum and minimum tire size is shown below. A 20mm wide rim can take tires as wide as 2.10 or as narrow as 1.0. A 22mm wide rim can only fit a 1.5 or greater tire.

One of the fastest rolling tires in Kenda’s Premium line, the Small Block Eight features the same knob profile as the Nevegal, but in a scaled down version for hardpack and XC conditions.
